Landslide Displaces Six Families in Bhojpur

Six families were displaced due to a landslide that occurred last night at Bhojpur's Dobhane VDC-3 and 7.
According to the assistant sub-inspector at the Dobhane police post, Khagendra Niraula, landslides have been continuing for the last five days in the VDCs.
The houses of Pakdhan, Chandra Kumari, Man Bahadur, Dal Bahadur and Dil Bahadur Rai of ward no 3 and Gun Raj Rai of ward no 7 were damaged. The victims have put up in tents in the nearby open fields.
Some 25 families were victims of the landslide that damaged property worth Rs 4.2 million, police said. It also triggered fears of possible landslides among the people living in adjoining areas of Yangma and Okharbote.
Landslide swept away Man Bahadur's two cows and a buffalo, while crops like cardamom, millet, maize were completely damaged. Dobhane's ward no 3 suffered damage worth Rs 1.7 million, while ward no 7 suffered damage worth Rs 2.5 million, preliminary police reports said.
The Red Cross and the police have been providing relief to the landslide victims.
Fearing more landslides, locals have demanded that the 25 vulnerable families be evacuated.
